Support Embark Guides in Tanzania & Nepal
Donation protected
If you've ever been the recipient of the selfless, tireless efforts of our seasoned staff in Kilimanjaro or Nepal you know how dedicated they are to their jobs and to our trekkers' success, health and safety. Some names you may recognize are Augustine Mtui, Frederick Tarimo, Dhruba Khanal, Karma Sherpa, Sunday Kapange, and the list goes on..(about 25 of them).
Now, they are without their primary source of income and it's time for us to reciprocate the same support and devotion they've shown us over the years. This money will help our staff feed families, continue sending their kids to school and maintain their quality of life. Our plan is to divide this money amongst our primary staff in Tanzania and Nepal. 100% of the money donated will go directly to staff. Our campaign will end on June 15th or when we reach our $10,000 goal so we can get them their funds as soon as possible. Embark will kick everything off with a donation of $2,000. UPDATE: if we get to the $10,000 goal, one of our clients has generously offered to MATCH us with $5000.
GoFundMe has asked me to update my story before we receive the funds with the following information. This is Donovan Pacholl, owner of Embark Exploration Co based in Portland, Oregon. I organizes trekking adventures around the world employing guides, porters, cooks in Tanzania and Nepal. 100 percent of these funds will be divided among all of our onsite guiding staff in both Tanzania and Nepal. We will be wiring the money via Western Union (5 separate transactions) once we receive the funds into our account. Due to the success of the fundraiser by surpassing the goal by $10,000, we have included some cooks and porters into the distribution of the funds. Right now, we have identified a total of 45 individuals that will receive funds. A copy of who received the funds, and how much they will receive, will be available for those who request it by contacting [email redacted].
