Emma's Tethered Spinal Cord Release Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cecilia Ristau and I'm trying to raise money for the time that I miss work during my daughter Emma's surgery. Emma was born with Vacterl Syndrome and has had many surgeries in the past. She now faces the challenge of have a Tethered Spinal Cord Release surgery .
Tethered Cord Syndrome is a condition in which the spinal cord is not able to float freely within the spinal column because of an abnormal attachment to tissue surrounding it. This causes stretching of the spinal cord as your child grows, leading to extra stress on nerves.
This can cause loss of use in the legs and feet. Fecal impaction and bladder/bowel incontinence are other issues caused by a Tethered Cord Syndrome
We have a neuro surgeon at Texas Childrens's Hospital in Houston who is going to complete the surgery and will clip the nerves in her spine so they can work properly again.
I am a single mother with 2 children and will be out of work for 2-3 weeks depending on how quicky/well my Emma can recover. Anything you can donate to help cover bills during these few weeks would be much appreciated! Thank you all so very much.
