FOAD - Fundraising for Gillian Etienne and Family

Blessed love Families of African Descent.

As you progress through your day, please take some time to consider our fellow FOAD member, Gillian Etienne, who currently is not able to experience the absolute privilege of being in good health. Gillian was diagnosed with cancer of the ovaries, stomach, colon and liver, just before Christmas 2021. Since that point, the family's "lives have fallen apart", as aptly described by her eldest child and daughter.

Gillian, husband Simon and their three children are a beautiful, committed, practical and tight knit family who are going through a hard time that none of us would wish to experience. As we have discussed, it is essential the whole FOAD community come together and help them by offering financial support.

The request is that each of us contribute £100 to the fund. This need not be all in a single donation; one could make three contributions of £30, £30 and £40 as an example. Whatever the case, by the end of July, our desire is to have raised a minimum of £8K. This fund presents an opportunity for us to make individual, but no less vital contributions. These contributions serve to create a whole, a whole that represents us as a fully functioning community.

We give thanks that Gillian and family are already receiving valuable help via a small FOAD project team. They are providing guidance with planning the necessary renovations, liaising with the council and occupational therapists and documenting the family's journey.

As you will be aware, there is a separate fund launched by the family. This is and will continue to be used for essential home renovations and Gillian's specialist medical care. The money FOAD raises will be for the family to use at their discretion and essentially to sustain their lives, especially during this trying time of historically high inflation levels.

I have been asked by Gillian and Simon to let you know all pledges are received with grace, humility and gratitude.
