GETTING TO THE WORLD TRANSPLANT GAMES IN AUSTRALIA
Donation protected
Hi all, my name is keeleigh
And As some of you will already know, i had a multiple organ transplant in 2011 when I was just 13.
I'd been unwell for years leading up to my transplant, months in hospital, medications, injections it felt so constant. Since having my transplant in 2011 I've had a few difficult patches, particularly with my liver function. In the last 11 years I have endured liver rejection 8 times. With one of those having been considered as my liver failing.
Before I had my transplant I had no interest in sport, apart from sitting in-front of the telly to watch it.
I was introduced to the British Transplant Games, having given me the opportunity to travel around the country, competing in a variety of different events as well as continuing to promote organ donation as much as I can.
Sport has become a huge part of my life in the recent years. It's what I strive to do.
It gives me a sense of belonging in such a confusing world that we live in.
I have trained incredibly hard in upcoming years despite the health struggles. I've made sacrifices I'v achieved and I've bought home alot of medals.
I have had the opportunity of being selected to represent my country out in Australia in April 2023.
Not only competing in sports that I love, but also giving me the opportunity to say thanks, thanks to the people who made a selfless decision at the most difficult of times, whom without them I wouldn't be writing this post. As well as being able to step out and represent my country.
I would be overwhelmed with gratitude if you felt able to support me getting to Australia, no matter how small.
All donations and shares are hugely appreciated :)
