Hadrian's Wall Walk for Afghanaid
On the 1900th anniversary of Hadrian's Walk, why not walk the entire length of the wall? And why not also try to support an exceptional charity doing great work at the same time. On 22-27 April - beginning at Bowness-on-Solway and ending at, well, Wallsend - we'll be walking the 137km / 85 miles. Follow our progress at @AndrewsAmble. Who are we supporting? Firstly, Afghanaid ...
Afghanaid (https://www.afghanaid.org.uk/) is a British humanitarian and development organisation. For close to forty years, dedicated personnel have worked with millions of deprived and excluded families in some of Afghanistan's poorest and most remote communities. Afghanaid helps build basic services, improve livelihoods, strengthen the rights of women and children, help communities protect against natural disasters and adapt to climate change, and respond to humanitarian emergencies. The current humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has put millions of lives and livelihoods at risk, with support from organisations such as Afghanaid particularly critical now.
I also raised funds for Afghanaid during the punishing (for me at least) St Oswald's Way Walk of 2011, after my return from three years in Afghanistan. So I'm hoping this one doesn't hurt as much (spoiler: it will).
Secondly, Kent Refugee Action Network, where I've also had to set up a separate fundraising page for them (available here https://www.gofundme.com/manage/hadrians-wall-walk-for-kran).
