Hay Fundraiser for Rescued Horses
Tax deductible
You can make a difference by donating today to Equus Rescue and Therapy Inc . We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and rehabilitates off-the-track Thoroughbreds and other horse breeds that find themselves in dire straits, many times starved or heading to slaughter.
Did you know that horses eat 20 pounds of hay every single day? As a rescue that compassionately cares for 70 horses, that comes out to ~1400 pounds of hay per day--or 42,000 pounds of hay per month.
According to the News Tribune, Missouri's hay production is 1/3 what it should be, and 90% of counties have drought conditions--on top of the serious impacts of 2022's drought and high fertilizer prices.
With short supply, comes skyrocketing prices--round bales of hay that previously cost $65 shot up to $120 or more in many cases. While cattle farmers may get some government assistance to combat this, Equus Rescue's residents are ineligible for such relief.
We need to start purchasing hay for the cold seasons. To feed the horses through mid-November, we must purchase 200 bales for $15,000--with payment upfront. Can you help us raise the money to feed our horses? Even a few dollars and a share on Facebook can make a difference. We need all the help we can get.
Please consider donating today and sharing our need with others. Time is of the essence - and only you can help us! We are grateful for any support we receive.
