Help Alex fight Lupus & receive Kidney Transplant

Donation protected
Hi all!

I'm reaching out because someone near and dear to MANY needs us. My baby brother Alex was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis a few years ago. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that mistakenly attacks healthy tissue and major organs in the body. It has no cause and no cure and is a leading cause of kidney failure. With Lupus comes rashes, joint pain, severe swelling, fatigue, nausea, hair loss, anemia, anxiety, blood pressure issues and the list goes on.

Throughout the many treatments, procedures, hospital stays and ICU visits Alex has worked, kept his spirits high with his witty charm many of you know well. He is a fighter.

Most recently Alex suffered a terrible Lupus  flare resulting in extreme kidney damage. His blood pressure was extremely high, which made it difficult to breathe, and fatigue made him feel so sick. After numerous lab tests and procedures his  doctors informed him that his kidneys were failing. Kidneys play a critical role in the body—acting as the body's filtering system, removing wastes, and controlling blood pressure--and once they fail dialysis or a kidney transplant are needed just to stay alive. Once he received his port to receive dialysis, he shortly contracted a staff infection from the hospital which his blood was infected. The port was immediately removed and multiple other tests were run to make sure the staff infection didn't infect his heart. His immune system is extremely weak and it's difficult to fight this disease.  This week he received a new port and was able to receive dialysis again which he needs to receive 3x a week for the rest of his life and unfortunately will limit his daily actives and most likely lead him to becoming unemployed or working very little. To those that know Alex know he is no stranger to hard work and this is very hard for him as he has worked his entire life.

This week we did receive SOME good news which was that insurance will soon take effect and he has solidified a chair for his hemodialysis.

The only option moving forward is a kidney transplant. A lot of things has to be done to be able to do the transplant; find a kidney donor, try to regain his health, gather funds, and lots of lots of good vibes. I'm reaching out to help Alex raise funds for his hospital bills, rent, food, medical expenses, co-pays,  prescriptions, insurance deductibles, & non-covered medical expenses.

As soon as he is able, Alex will be registered to a transplant program. If by any chance you are interested in becoming a Living Kidney Donor for him please contact the living donor office directly at [phone redacted]. Or you can complete a Living Kidney Donor Form at https://tghsecureforms.org/living-kidney-donor-form/.  My family sincerely thanks you for all of the love and support.
