Help Support Sasha’s Medical Bills

UPDATE:
The goal was made to get Sasha to Canada!! He wouldn’t be here without each and every one of you who donated and supported us in this journey! I couldn’t be happier and am very thankful.
We’ve unfortunately had a few set backs upon his arrival. He had to be seen by the local veterinary clinic days after his arrival. He had an abscess on his cheek that ruptured and needed antibiotics, he was also prescribed meloxicam for inflammation/pain.

A few days later I noticed he was chewing on his cheek and would often meow in discomfort. I brought Sasha back to the vets and they decided surgical intervention may be a good route to try as he had two lumps of tissue on the insides of both cheeks.
Sasha was then scheduled for surgery days later - he was prescribed more antibiotics and to continue meloxicam.

Two days ago I had to bring Sasha back to the clinic for his toes as they are inflamed. The Doctor examined Sasha’s mouth while there, to see how things were healing, but there’s bad news. They discovered that the tissue is back on at least one side and that it is likely due to the way his mouth aligns or the way he chews. He is back doing the “empty chewing” - there will be no further surgery as it is just too risky. I will continue to monitor and provide Sasha with all of the love and care he needs and deserves.

It has been a long 4 weeks since his arrival in Canada. He’s had a tough time adjusting with the stress and medical issues, it has taken a toll on his body.
By donating it will be less stress on me financially so I can focus on his care and making sure he is healing from everything. I hope to be able to share good news and spend many happy days with him!

ORIGINAL STORY:
Some of you may know me as Lux’s Mom and that’s a title I’m proud to hold. Some of you may also know I lost my precious boy a month ago, he was (still is) my world and I miss him dearly. Lux had a rare disease called Mucopolysaccharidosis, the same disease that Sasha has, he’s the little sweetie pictured above.
Sasha was found at only three weeks old by a wonderful family in Italy. Sasha was a stray kitty who had been abandoned by his mother. He may have been abandoned due to the fact that he has the disease MPS. MPS is a group of lysosomal storage diseases that are inherited as an autosomal recessive trait. Some signs are reduced growth rate,
skeletal deformity – flattened face with widely spaced eyes and small ears.
Stunted growth and skeletal abnormalities, as well as, enlarged liver and corneal clouding. Cats with MPS often have a shortened life expectancy due to the number of health issues related to the disease.

Sashas mom reached out to me a few months back for help with her sweet boy. Sasha’s family loves him dearly and has tried to help him but unfortunately realize they cannot give him all of the care he needs/deserves. His constant care giver has health problems of her own and cannot dedicate the time to care for him. Sasha’s family had reached out to those around them but once they hear of the disease they are no longer interested at it isn’t common and not much information is out there.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for the disease. One can only manage the symptoms and make each and everyday comfortable and enjoyable. That’s where I come in! I hope to bring Sasha to Canada to give him the care he needs and to spend his days surrounded by lots of love, treats and fun! The downside is that we have searched for flight companions and have not come across anyone willing to bring Sasha to Canada. We have contacted a reputable pet courier called Bliss Pet Services but it is quite costly.
The quote we received for his flights alone is nearly $3650 Canadian, that doesn’t include any flight expenses for my travel to Toronto, ON to pick him up. The costs cover: Basic expense to Bliss Pet Courier, flight expenses, pet travel specialist, veterinary assistance, pet carrier, pet protection place and custom clearance. I am hoping to raise as much as possible as the remainder will have to be out of pocket and that large of an expense may not be feasible.

I understand that there are many other people, animals, and other causes of more importance but if you are able to donate to help bring him here that would mean so much to me and his family. If you are unable to donate but can share this link, that will be very helpful and much appreciated as well!

Thank you for supporting Lux in his journey of life and hopefully Sasha can make it to Canada for the next chapter of his life
