Rebuild Imad & Rajaa's Dreams & their kid's smile

We are Imad and Rajaa, refugees in Rafah, Gaza, are facing an unimaginable crisis. Our home was destroyed in a treacherous bombing, leaving us with nothing but memories of a life we once knew. We, along with our children, are now displaced and desperate for assistance to escape the war and rebuild our lives.

Before the bombing, we had worked tirelessly to create a home filled with love, memories, and dreams for our children's future. We had overcome financial struggles, paid off debts, and were finally beginning to save for our children's education and future. However, all of our hard work and dreams were shattered in an instant.

As we fled our home, we could only grab the bare essentials for survival. We left behind cherished belongings, including our children's clothes, toys, and mementos from past celebrations.

When we made the decision to evacuate, I asked my children to pack their clothes, thinking we would be gone for only two days. My 13 year old son Walid, wanted to take his XBox, but we couldn't due to lack of time and space in the car, so we left hoping to come back for it in two to three days max but life had another plan for us. My 11 year old Zeina, my second daughter, wanted to take her new clothes and accessories, but we couldn't manage to collect them either. My 9 year old Salma wanted to take her teddy bear, but its size made it difficult to take it with us. And my youngest, 5 year old Sara, asked for all her clothes from the last Eid, things I wish I could go back for just for my children. But it all happened so fast we had to leave under the bombing so we couldn’t do much, we evacuated to Rafah, we only thought about taking the essentials—food and enough clothes for a few days.

Now, we are in the fifth month of displacement, we're still homeless and refugees at Rafah city. We still can't believe we won't return to our beloved home and that we'll need to rebuild our lives from scratch after a lifetime has passed. I don't know how we'll manage.
