Always, always, ASK unhoused people what do you NEED? Bureaucrats often tell homeless ("unhoused") people wrong information, try to coerce unhoused people into shelters or other situations that further endanger the health and the well-being of unhoused. Some bureaucrats knowingly make false statements, make threats, and demand payoffs.
WHAT DO I NEED?
I need funds to purchase some professional clothing, since all of my clothing was destroyed when I was illegally evicted.
I need funds for market-rate rent near my neighborhood so that I can re-open my clinical psychology private practice.
This month I am also working to enforce my voting rights. I had been registered to vote in Cook County since 1971, when the 26th amendment lowered the voting age to 18. However, a combination of court corruption and mail fraud appears to have "unregistered" me.
It is essential for EVERYONE TO VOTE.
Please take the time to make sure you're registered and VOTE!
And then, if you are able, can you give me a hand?

Finances are so tight I have had to delay my service dog's annual checkup/shots as well as getting her groomed.
I have faced setbacks because my bank account has been randomly hacked, causing stress as well as lack of funds to go to eye doctor. Twice I've been notified that I suddenly owe funds for my prepaid hotel room and therefore asked to leave!
I hope the hackers leave this Gofundme account alone!
I am still sleeping in my minivan, but it is still my hope that I can rent a small place before we find ourselves in the throes of yet another Chicago winter. I'd like to finish my draft of my (second) book.
The good news is that my summer-long food poisoning stint seems to have finally resolved (fingers crossed).
I recently got my free Covid and flu boosters. Hope you'll get yours soon.

Since I last posted, I was able to finally compel insurance to replace my totaled car (with a 16 year old minivan, sigh).
I am still struggling with residual health effects of the accident, but am so far unable to get my medical follow-up.
President Biden and Vice President Harris spoke about Building Back Better.
What does Building Back Better mean for a 71-year-old psychologist and author on sabbatical?
I intend to Build Back Better via a "Housing First" model for women and families who have been displaced from their homes by family, chancery, and eviction courts.
I have found that, without stable housing, I am unable to pull together my paperwork for my first draft of a study and practical plan for implementing Housing First from the “lived experience” perspective.
While I’ve self-published a book about a practical approach for learning with disabilities utilizing technology, I wrote it at a time when I could afford to pay for regular meetings with an editor.
For this next book, I’m hoping for help to start out funding six months of a one-bedroom home so that I can organize my documents, organize my writing, conduct interviews, and send off my first draft.

I am still trying to get immediate funds to pay for car rental while I resolve insurance payout for my totaled car. My car is my home for me and my service dog, Gracie, so I am desperate for $47 PER DAY while I fix this problem. My age, health issues prevent shelter living.
My Social Security doesn't arrive for another week and a half.
Thank you so much for the $25 donation being processed from a few days ago, which I hope will be transferred to my account promptly.
I used to donate and teach access technology to others; it is still so embarrassing to ask for your donation. If you can donate, I hope to pay it forward soon.

Some have said my gofundme page is confusing, and I apologize.
Most immediately, I was living in my 17 year old car while seeking housing/home office. Because my Ex took my house, I have been without stable housing, and the pandemic made it worse.
But my car was totaled just this September (not my fault), so insurance was paying for a rental while the car situation was resolved.
However, insurance company dragged feet, causing delays in settling the claim, so car rental coverage ran out. I have been paying out of pocket each day, while living solely on Social Security (I am 70 years old). I need coverage for my car rental ($47 per day) while I finish getting State Farm/other insurance company to stop dragging their feet so I can buy another car. I'm skipping buying breakfast and dinner to try to have enough.
There are ongoing issues I must address in court to resolve my living/work situation, but I have been unable to get an attorney to assist me. My #deafness and auditory processing issues (a bit like Sen Fetterman) make court difficult without ADA accommodations.
I hope to pay forward your kindness.

Like many of us, I have struggled to get the government court bureaucracy to provide meaningful accommodations for disabilities.
In my case, I am partly deaf with an overlay of an auditory processing disorder. The courts have refused to accommodate my disability needs even though the ADA laws were passed decades ago. Without these accommodations, I cannot even hear to participate in the court processes or obtain due process.
I have been unable to find a pro bono attorney to compel the accommodations I need to restore my home office and retirement. I need to raise funds to hire an attorney to assist me to restore my home/home office setting.
My area of specialty is assistive technology for those with disabilities. I intend to resume my private practice, paying forward the kindness shared with me.
