Help Moayed and his Family Escape the War in Gaza to Safety
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
My name is Matteo, and I am reaching out to you on behalf of my friend, Moayed Alharzeen, who is striving to escape the dire circumstances in Gaza. Due to the geographic limitations and restrictions on GoFundMe in Gaza, I am stepping in to help launch this campaign. Every donation will go directly to Moayed, supporting him in his journey to safety. Your contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in his life.
Below is Moayed Alharzeen story:
I am Moayed Alharzeen, a 23-year-old software engineer from Palestine (GAZA).
In the last eight months, my life and the lives of my family have changed for the worse. The occupation has destroyed our home, my workplace, and everything we hold dear. We have repeatedly escaped certain death due to continuous, indiscriminate bombings. Additionally, we have been displaced from our homes in the northern Gaza Strip, forced to live in the open air and on the streets in the south of the Gaza Strip. Even after our displacement, we are relentlessly pursued, having been displaced more than six times so far in search of safety.
Given these dire circumstances, my family and I have no choice but to leave Gaza. I am launching this campaign to raise the necessary funds to enable us to escape this horrific situation. The goal is to expand the campaign to include all family members, allowing us to leave and live in dignity.
In the photo group below, I share pictures from my graduation ceremony at the Islamic University of Gaza, where I earned my degree in software development. This ceremony, held just one month before the war began, was one of the most beautiful days of my life, marking the start of my professional journey. Tragically, the war did not spare my university; all its buildings were bombed and demolished, taking with them countless cherished details and memories.
Our family home in the Shujaiya neighborhood of the Gaza Strip, once vibrant and full of laughter and life, has been reduced to a pile of rubble. It served as a refuge from the chaos outside, sheltering my father, my brothers, and me. Now, it lies in ruins, a stark reminder of the devastation we have endured. In our neighborhood and on our street, no house has been spared from the destruction of this war. The oppression of the occupation has left nothing untouched.
As we face this harsh reality, we prepare to embark on a journey toward new beginnings, guided by faith and hope. Every donation, regardless of its size, becomes a beacon of hope. It represents a step toward rebuilding our shattered lives and finding safety.
The cost of this journey is between $5,000 and $6,000 per person. This journey will begin with me and then extend to my family members, one by one, thanks to your support. We will provide updates with each goal reached, and the campaign will be expanded to include all of my family members.
The breakdown of these costs per person includes:
- Passport fee: ~$1,000
- Formal and informal border fees: ~$5,000
- Travel expenses from Gaza to Egypt: ~$2,000
- Rent and initial settling-in expenses in Egypt: ~$1,000
In addition to these costs, there are platform fees and withdrawal commissions:
- GoFundMe platform fee: 2.9%
- Exchange shop commission: approximately 5%
In total, the platform and exchange fees amount to approximately $1,000.
