Rick Rogers Final Expenses & Memorial

Update: My daddy passed away 8/8/2021 10:15am after a hard fought battle with Covid.

Hello, my name is Kayla McCarter-Rogers. This is for my Daddy, Rick Rogers, who has been fighting the Covid-19 Delta variant since July 14th, 2021 and has been going through a roller coaster of a nightmare that we never could have imagined. Rick is a 49 year old truck driver of 22 years, a loving father of 10 children, a grandfather, brother, uncle, a fiancee, friend to many, and a central part to each of our lives. He is a funny, upbeat, bubbly individual that would, and has, give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. With Vanessa, Rick's fiancee, also recovering from a hysterectomy, Rick has been the primary familial provider.

As of creating this page, Rick has been on a bi-pap, nasal feeding tube, catheterized, high-flow oxygen, as well as 15+ medications to keep his body functioning while he fights. He has required physical therapy, round-the-clock care, and those needs will not end once he comes home.

Currently, doctor's are unable to give us a clear prediction of his chances to beat Covid-19 Delta. He is not out of danger yet, and that fear only adds to the life that is currently missing his presence. We are asking for $12,000 to cover 3-5 months of bills and some medical expenses for when he comes home. Rick does not have insurance due to the high expense, and will need immediate care that we cannot provide to him alone.

Upon coming home, Rick will likely need a walker, be on oxygen and be dependent on those around him to care for him as he continues to recover. Vanessa will be returning to full-time work, but that means that there is not anyone that can care for him while she is away. This money will assist in paying the bills that Rick has, as well as help cover his basic medical needs when he comes home, such as his walker, oxygen tank, medicines, doctor's appointments, etc. Just a week before becoming infected, he had started with a new journey in his trucking career as an independent owner/operator, which has always been a dream of his. Now, all of what would be covered by an employer or any assistance that he would have received is now solely on his shoulders without having enough time to create anything substantial.

We know that times are still tough for many, many families, and though nothing is expected, we appreciate any little bit that individuals like you are able to assist with. Anything raised will be going directly into my daddy's account and I will not be handling any of it. I just wanted to try and help out as much as I possibly could.
