The drought in South Australia has hit hard, and here at The Happy Herd Cow Sanctuary, we are facing our toughest challenge yet. The land is dry, the pastures are bare, and our beloved cows—who have found safety and love here—are now in urgent need.

We never thought we’d have to say this, but we are fighting just to feed them. Hay prices have skyrocketed, and we are struggling to afford the feed they need to survive. Worse still, we are now facing the heartbreaking reality of needing to rehome them—if we can keep them fed until safe, loving placements are found. We are working tirelessly to secure safe, loving homes for them, but this takes time. In the meantime they still need food, water, care and security. Hay and water are huge costs and we are really struggling to keep them well fed as we transition them to new homes. Every single day is a battle to ensure they don't go hungry.
