Help spreading Mini Food Forests around the Globe

Donation protected
We believe that small actions can spark big change, and together with people, communities, and organizations, we’re growing a greener, more connected world by creating a network of Mini Food Forests - called Biggest Mini Forest.

We plan to reach 500.000 Mini Food Forests until 2030 - To do so, we need a lot of people in action, and to share with them our knowledge, we are creating our first online course, which is a big milestone to reach that goal!

Our Story
How It All Started
It all began with a simple idea: what if we could transform even the smallest spaces into thriving ecosystems? Back in 2020, we (Luís and Ana Laura) decided to take our passion for regenerative agriculture and put it into practice. We didn’t start big—in fact, our very first experiment was planting a jungle… in a bathtub. Yes, you read that right—a bathtub!
That tiny experiment proved something incredible: even in the smallest spaces, nature can flourish if we give it the chance.

From the Bathtub to our First Mini Forest
At the end of the same year, we gathered all the family, and instead of decorating a Christmas tree, we planted a small and dense forest of 54m², with all the plants and trees from our bathtub.
It turned out to be our laboratory, our orchard, our cool place in Summer, and our classroom, in Alcoutim, one of the most semi-arid areas of Portugal. 2 years later, our first Mini Forest was already a green island in the middle of the dry land.

From Our First Forest to a Growing Movement
What began as a family experiment soon turned into a mission to inspire others. We quickly realized that promoting thriving ecosystems is a must! And we need as many people as possible doing it, so solutions need to be simple, replicable, and accessible to everyone. That’s when the idea of the “Mini Food Forest block” was born.
Think of it like Lego pieces for nature. And each block becomes your teacher, nursery, and food source, ready to multiply and create a bigger impact.

Spreading the Roots Through Workshops and Partnerships
What started as an experiment quickly grew into something much bigger. Through workshops, hands-on projects, and partnerships, we’ve been sharing the Mini Food Forest method.

Each workshop is more than just planting trees—it’s about learning, connecting, and building a global community committed to regeneration.

And we have done it for more than 300 people, and in 18 months we went from zero to more than 50 Mini Food Forests.

But to spread faster, we need to go online and have more people involved from around the world.

What is the Biggest Mini Forest then?
It is a network of Mini Food Forests, based on a simple square module, designed to:
  • Grow 10x faster than conventional tree planting methods, all without chemicals.
  • Be easy for anyone to start with a standard 3x3 meter module.
  • Produce food for years, benefiting you, your community and nature.
  • Allow you to start small and expand at your own pace by adding more plots over time.

Mini Food Forests improve soil health, enhance biodiversity, and fight climate change. Most importantly, they offer communities a chance to reconnect with nature and ensure food security.

Why We Need You
We’ve seen firsthand how Mini Food Forests can transform barren land into vibrant ecosystems.

To spread this regenerative knowledge further, the first step is creating this online course to teach people everywhere how to grow their own Mini Food Forests. It will provide tools, techniques, and inspiration for communities worldwide to plant, nurture and expand their own forest ecosystems.

After that, we want to start having local and regional independent groups to move faster toward 500.000 Mini Food Forests in 2030.
