HELP SUPPORT MEABH & NOAH BATTLE CANCER
Donation protected
In December 2020, our wonderful Meabh was diagnosed with advanced and aggressive melanoma, a form of skin cancer. Meabh had just undergone a biopsy on a small growth on her scalp and within a fortnight was told that not only had the cancer spread through her body but it had reached Stage 4 and was tragically, incurable.
Meabh is only 25 years old and is a doting Mum to a beautiful little boy, Noah. Noah is a little bundle of energy, full of cheeky smiles, who turned 3 in February.
Meabh has already undergone extensive head and neck surgery and a hip replacement procedure to remove some of the cancerous tumours. Unfortunately the surgery and ongoing immunotherapy treatment has not yielded the hoped for results. Meabh’s condition has deteriorated and the cancer has continued to spread rapidly throughout her body. With remission no longer a possibility, her oncology team has advised her to make the journey home to Ireland to spend the remainder of her time with loved ones.
Meabh and her family are now coming to terms with the life-limiting nature of her diagnoses and are hoping that with treatment her life can be extended so that she can spend as much time as possible creating some amazing memories with Noah, family and friends.
Many of Meabh's friends and relatives both in Ireland, Australia, and elsewhere have contacted us to offer their help and support at this time. After discussion with Meabh and her family, we believe this is a direct and beneficial way that people can help if they have the capacity to do so. Meabh will not be able to return to work and the capacity to continue her treatment and meet associated future medical costs will not be possible without financial assistance.
Meabh is bearing the weight of an immense emotional burden, both herself and Noah are currently without the love, care, and support of most of her immediate family. Donations will help with getting Meabh and Noah the help and support they need, both immediately and over the course of Meabh’s ongoing treatment.
Meabh’s world has been turned upside down in such a short period of time and she is tragically unfortunate to be in this heart-breaking situation at such a young age. She is facing so much uncertainty yet manages every day to maintain a positive attitude and a fighting spirit that we can only say is inspirational. She will battle this disease every inch of the way and will give everything for her little boy.
Your donation, however little or large, will help, and on behalf of Meabh and Noah your love and giving is truly appreciated.
Thank you,
Aoife (Meabh’s sister) & Kevin (Meabh’s uncle) & Orla (Meabh's auntie)
UPDATE: 13th June 2021
Hello everyone,
We are delighted to be able to update you all with the news that our brave Meabh, her dad Emmet and gorgeous little Noah arrived home safely yesterday. There were a lot of administrative hoops to jump through, but she had fantastic back and support to help make it all happen. The journey was tough and long of course, but thankfully all went smoothly. It is just fantastic to have her back in Ireland with her family and we want to say again, a huge thank you to everyone for the love, support, kindness and your very generous donations which made it all possible.
It has been a difficult few weeks for Meabh. She loved her life in Australia, and it was hard to say goodbye to all of the great friends who have been such a support to her in Sydney. She is so thankful for the amazing care and consideration shown to her by her medical team every step of the way and also for the kindness of her family and friends in Australia.
Meabh has asked us to thank everyone who helped make the journey happen. She will now continue on her journey with cancer in Ireland. The hope and plan is for her to rest up and recover from the journey and spend the foreseeable time enjoying life and making lots of great memories with Noah, her family and her friends over here.
The funds raised with greatly help with Meabh’s ongoing care, medical and alternative therapies and living expenses for Meabh and Noah.
Thank you again for your support.
Aoife, Kevin & Orla
