Help young mother battling terminal brain cancer

The day before Thanksgiving, young mother Tara Nolan (formerly Tara Sheard), received a call from her oncologist in regards to her pathology reports after a recent biopsy. She was told that she has the worst case scenario… four, grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumors that are inoperable. This particular type of cancer is extremely aggressive so she will immediately begin treatment with 6 intense weeks of radiation followed by chemotherapy in attempts to extend her life. Tara’s fight for more time with her family through those intense and grueling treatments began today, December 13th, with radiation. The reality of Tara’s diagnosis is that she will be leaving her husband and her children in a matter of months despite the fight against time she is starting. No family should face such unfathomable devastation, but the fact that they are facing this during Christmas is particularly heartbreaking.

Tara and her husband Shane met during their time at West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas. They dated briefly then but remained close friends. God’s timing brought them back together when they were back in Beaumont visiting from college and the two friends fell deeply in love and their life together began. They were married in 2014 and their dream of starting a family together quickly became their beautiful reality with the birth of their son, Tavo in 2015, and later a second son, Luca, who was born in 2018. Shane is an active member of the United States Navy and the family is currently stationed in Virginia. Tara is a homemaker and a stay at home mom. She takes great pride in her family, her husband’s chosen career path serving our county, and most of all in nurturing her precious boys.

The organizers of this group have started this GoFundMe for three reasons. First, we want to send The Nolan Family on an all expenses paid trip to the Happiest Place on Earth, Walt Disney World. The trip is booked for February, and we need your help to get them there. At the very least, they deserve a chance to take a break from their harsh reality and make magical memories together before Tara’s health rapidly declines. Second, we want to help alleviate the financial worries they are facing with Tara’s medical needs. Between her treatments and preparing for end of life care, we want to make sure Shane is not left with medical bills to worry about when his focus will need to be on the well-being of himself and their boys as they navigate a life without Tara. Third, as Tara is a stay at home mom and they have no family near to help with their children, we want to help them with the cost of childcare whenever it is needed for the foreseeable future.
