Impacted PMA Worker Fund (Round 2)

Donation protected
PMA Workers Are the Art Museum. And Now We Need Your Help.

On Wednesday, November 18, the Philadelphia Museum of Art initiated a second round of furloughs in 2020, leaving many workers without a paycheck for the second time this year. During this exceptionally difficult stage of the pandemic, and right on the heels of the holiday season, we are raising funds to support our impacted colleagues. This is an independent, grassroots coworker-initiated fund created to help workers of the Philadelphia Museum of Art impacted by COVID-related furloughs, lay-offs, and contract terminations, or who are otherwise in financial hardship. The funds are open to any impacted current, laid-off, or otherwise recently separated PMA workers, including all subcontracted workers (such as Constellation, C-Tech, and Allied Barton), who are experiencing financial hardship.

What You Can Do

Your donation will be distributed to workers at the PMA who have lost their income or jobs to help them in this time of widespread need. Gifts of $200 each will be distributed on a rolling basis to individuals in the order in which we receive their request and as donations allow. Requesters will be notified automatically when their requests are received and again when their requests have been reviewed. We will post updates on this initiative here.

This new fund continues the support of the previous one, which successfully distributed $10,475 to support workers who lost income through furloughs and layoffs this summer. We are so grateful to those who donated earlier this year and we hope that this urgent new need also receives strong support.

Want to do More?

We have been inspired to launch this fund by other important initiatives that provide museum worker aid, including the Museum Council of Greater Philadelphia Greater Philadelphia Museum Workers Fund, and the Museum Workers Relief Fund run by Museum Workers Speak. If you are in a position to donate further funds, we hope that you consider contributing to these other museum worker aid funds.

Are You an Impacted PMA Worker?

If you are a worker at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, or worked there until recently, and you have lost your job or income, you are eligible to request financial assistance. A request form will be made available and linked on this page on Monday, November 30. The PMA Impacted Worker Fund will make gifts of $200 in the order the requests are received on a rolling basis, as funding permits. If additional funding becomes available, we may distribute funds to requesters more than once; however, new requests will be given first consideration and we ask that requesters wait two weeks between requests. The first round of disbursements will go out on Wednesday, December 2.
