Cookie's Heart Surgery

You can't tell from looking at her, but 4-month-old Cookie has a broken heart. She has a congenital heart defect on her right side that rendered her essentially unadoptable from a county shelter. But those kinds of pups are Ani's Orphans' specialties. One look at that face, and we knew that if we could get her the surgery she needs, she would get the chance at the long, happy, healthy life she deserves.

Cookie's diagnosis is pulmonic valve stenosis, and the treatment is balloon vavuloplasty. She's scheduled to be examined at the cardiology department at Virginia Tech’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital in October. There they will determine whether she is a good candidate for the operation, and if she is, they will try to schedule the procedure for the following day.

The estimated cost of surgery is $5,000. Cookie is almost halfway to her fundraising goal, but she needs your help getting to the finish line. Every little bit helps!
