THE ONE MILLION DOLLAR RACE AGAINST TIME: NEW YORK RISES TO SAVE THE SS UNITED STATES

In a last-ditch effort to save America's most iconic ocean liner, the SS United States, a coalition of determined New Yorkers has emerged to take on the challenge. With the ship's fate hanging in the balance, the New York Coalition to Save the SS United States is launching a desperate bid to secure one million dollars in pledges.

This critical backing will be used to prevent Okaloosa County, which currently owns the ship, from sinking it off the coast of Florida as an artificial reef. By acquiring the SS United States, or convincing the White House to do so, we can alter its fate and pave the way for a brighter future.

Our vision includes:

- A state-of-the-art museum showcasing the ship's rich history and artifacts

- A world-class theater, hosting Broadway productions, concerts, and cultural events

- Educational programs and workshops, inspiring future generations

- A thriving commercial center, creating jobs and economic growth for the local community

But time is running out. The Okaloosa County proposal is set to move forward, and the SS United States is slated to meet its demise in the near future. We need to act quickly to secure the vessel and bring it to New York, where it will be restored to its former glory.

If we are successful, The SS United States will find its new permanent home at the GBX (Gowanus Bay Terminal), located on the historic Columbia Street Wharf/Quay. As part of our comprehensive plan, we will arrange necessary dredging to accommodate the vessel's arrival at GBX.

In a significant show of support, John Quadrozzi Jr. has committed to providing mooring accommodations for the SS United States at GBX at no cost until our coalition is able to secure the funds necessary to begin restoration of the vessel. This generous commitment is a vital step in our mission to save the ship.

Every pledge of $50 or more will have their name added to a special plaque titled "New York Coalition to Save SSUS: Lifeline to History", recognizing their contribution to saving the SS United States.
