Love Wins, Not Cancer – Help the Reginals Fight Breast Cancer

Hi, we’re the Reginals—Keisheia and Jimmel.

What started as a beautiful love story has become a journey of faith, resilience, and unwavering love.

We met as friends in high school, and life took us down different paths. In November 2022, fate brought us back together when Jimmel messaged me on Instagram. After weeks of catching up, we realized we’d both be in Houston soon and made plans for dinner.

That one dinner turned into a weekend of reminiscing—and the realization that my soulmate had been a friend from high school all along.

From Long Distance to a Lifetime

We began a long-distance relationship—countless phone calls, video chats, and miles traveled. On Father’s Day 2024, Jimmel, being the intentional man he is, proposed—and I accepted without hesitation. Just a week later, we packed up nearly a decade of my life in Illinois, piled it all into a U-Haul, and made our way to Austin, Texas to start our life together.

Some questioned the decision. I was leaving behind stability, friends, and the life I’d built. But I knew in my heart this was part of my purpose, and even knowing what I know now, I still choose us!

Unfortunately, within weeks of relocating, my full-time remote role of 3 years was eliminated, and I was laid off. Just like that, our two-income household became one—before we ever got to experience the security of dual incomes.

With savings dwindling and bills piling up, we stayed grounded in our love and faith. We didn’t want to wait to get married—we wanted to stand together, no matter what. So we eloped in a small, sacred ceremony at Chapel Dulcinea in March 2025.

Then Came the News No One Ever Wants to Hear

During wedding planning, I began experiencing unusual fatigue and noticed a small indentation on my left breast. At the time, I didn’t think the two were connected. I assumed the fatigue was simply stress-related, brought on by the emotional and logistical demands of planning a wedding while actively seeking employment without success. Still, to be safe, I scheduled my very first mammogram.

After 4 months of tests, biopsies, and unanswered questions, we received gut-wrenching news...

Not even a month after our wedding, before we even got our photos back—I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

What should have been the happiest season of my life has been overshadowed by uncertainty and grief. It’s been hard to fully celebrate our love when we’re constantly facing the next wave of hardship. But our bond has only grown stronger. We’re clinging to our vows—in sickness and in health. We know that love will win, not cancer.

We are trusting God every step of the way. ✝️

How You Can Help

Your support will go directly toward:

Out-of-Pocket Treatment Costs – I'm thankful I was blessed to find a program that covers the bulk of my medical costs related to breast cancer. However, I still have medical bills from before I had coverage that I am responsible for.

Living Expenses – Mortgage, utilities, groceries, and transportation costs while we live on a single income.

Support for My Mother – I'm an only child, and my mother has a disability. I’ve been her primary support system since I was 18 years old. Losing my job has made it incredibly difficult to support her. Still, I do the best I can with love because she depends on me.

A Honeymoon Celebration – Once we beat this, we want to celebrate life, love, and survival. Our dream honeymoon is a reminder that love conquers all.

Every Act of Kindness Matters

We’re not just fighting for my health, we're fighting for our future!

No amount is too small. Every prayer, share, or donation lifts us up more than you can imagine.

We believe in God, and we know He’s not finished writing our story. By HIS stripes, I am healed!

Thank you for holding space.

Thank you for standing with us.

Thank you for believing in love.

With love and gratitude,

Keisheia & Jimmel Reginal
