Dismantle Prejudice: Mark's Mosaic Institute ride
JOIN ME IN DISMANTLING PREJUDICE IN CANADA!
Hi! I'm Mark Swartz, a 61-year-old writer based in Ontario. As a proud citizen of this country, I've become increasingly upset at how, despite some progress, prejudice and racism in Canada keeps rearing its ugly head. I’ve also felt troubled by the rise in polarization, disinformation, and hate crimes here. All of these things present a danger to our safety and collective futures.
I’ve realized as well we each have a role to play at this crucial time to fight for our democracy. For equity, understanding, and connection too. So, I chose to take action. I’m solo-cycling from Halifax to Toronto June 27 – August 20 to raise funds for the important work of The Mosaic Institute for Harnessing Diversity .
Along the 2,000 kilometer journey I'll be interviewing folks about their views on recent events, polarization, and democracy. My goal is to nurture respectful dialogue and raise awareness about these issues. Watch for clips and daily updates on my site, DemocraCycle.ca.
Donating
Any donation to the Mosaic Institute campaign will make an impact by funding this organization’s vital work that delivers the necessary research, knowledge, skills and tangible actions to dismantle prejudice for a more inclusive and peaceful society. 100% goes directly to Mosaic Institute (minus the small GoFundMe processing fee). You will receive a tax receipt for your contribution.
By supporting this effort, you’ll be taking meaningful action to fight prejudice in this country. Thank you for considering supporting me in this journey. I am one person, but together, we can gain from the good we know exists from coast to coast.
Why I Choose To Support Mosaic Institute
This Canadian charitable organization brings together people of all backgrounds. They build understanding, find common ground, respect difference, and find ways forward for a more peaceful and equitable society. They're internationally respected and recognized, as well as community led and informed.
About Mosaic Institute
For 15 years, the Mosaic Institute has been a unique leader in equipping people with the tools to dismantle prejudice in their own communities through research, dialogue, policy, and training. We believe everyone has a right to be free from prejudice & discrimination. Our collective futures depend on it. The growing demand for our work is only made possible through donations and project-based grants. Mosaic’s:
> community-grounded research and policy work amplifies the voices in Canada to identify specific issues and inform equitable solutions to those issues and systemic problems.
> facilitated in-depth dialogues, conducted through the “Mosaic Model of Dialogue” create space for intersectional conversations that result in community connection, understanding, and action-oriented recommendations.
> education, training, and programs equip people of all backgrounds to break down the barriers they experience, and work toward inclusion and prosperity for all.
