Michele & Family House Fire

Hi everyone, it's Carley. Some have heard, most have not, but this evening my mother, step father and brother's home caught fire resulting in them being displaced from their home for 6 to 8 months, potentially longer, and through the holiday season. The fire started on the stove, spread across their kitchen destroying their upper floor, basement (Matthew's room) and entire kitchen (which is a whole half/side of their home, for those who don't know). Multiple fire departments were on scene and were able to keep the fire isolated to the kitchen but unfortunately it destroyed the ceilings which is also the floor of their upstairs, and the water from the fire hoses flooded their downstairs causing even more damage. Of course water damage was not preventable, but still just icing on the cake.

My brother, Matthew, luckily was home and made a very serious attempt to put out the fire. Without his bravery, and without exaggeration, they would've lost their entire house and not just half. Despite his bravery and quick action, they will be displaced from their home for atleast 6 to 8 months for repairs and unfortunately, over the holiday season, as their entire home needs ripped down to the studs and rebuilt.

Those of you who know my mother know she goes above and beyond for everyone she loves: her family, her kids, her friends, her friends kids and then some. This fire has put a huge strain on my mom and Ralph, but also my brother Matthew. They are waiting for insurance to place them and their animals in some sort of temporary housing but in the meantime they need somewhere to stay as couches only work for so long, food, funds to cover day to day bills briefly, because they will be out of work to attend to getting their home fixed, boarding for their dogs, etc.

Many of you know me and know I am not the type to ask for help, especially not for myself, but at this time I'm asking our army for any help they can offer while we try and get things sorted for their home, their temporary future living situation, their animals.. you name it.
