On 19 October, 2020 our building which was intended for educational purposes was set on fire by an Arsonist. This building has been completely destroyed and must be demolished very soon. Our goal here is to rebuild and improve Mt Pleasant AME Church Campus. This campus is home to the Old Colored School which was built in 1924. Our main building was built on or about 1949.
This was the only school in the area where Colored People were allowed to attend school and attend church. In fact the Baptist and the AME's were using the same building for church service by alternating Sunday's. There are two Out Houses still on site that were used for their convenience. There was one Out House for boys and one for girls.
