Walking Challenge for the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation
Donation protected
Our beautiful identical baby boys, Oscar and Alfie, were welcomed into the world on 26 July 2024. Born extremely prematurely at 25 weeks and 4 days, they were whisked away to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The Canberra Hospital and started their miraculous fight for life. Devastatingly, our baby Alfie suddenly became critically unwell after 6 weeks in the NICU and passed away on 12 September 2024. Oscar spent 150 days in the NICU. You can read more of our story at: https://newborn.org.au/parent-stories/
The care provided to Alfie and Oscar at the NICU at The Canberra Hospital was exceptional. Oscar and Alfie had access to world class medical care and equipment, much of which was funded by the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation.
With your help, we can give back to the NICU to help our tiniest patients. For 48 consecutive days from 24 March through to 10 May 2025, I will walk between 5 and 10 kilometres with Oscar every day (rain, hail, or shine!) to raise funds to help give critically ill and premature babies the best chance of survival. 48 days represents the time Alfie was with us on earth.
Please help by sponsoring me or making a tax deductible donation. 100% of funds raised will go to the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation for the NICU’s medical equipment, research and nurse education.
I will share the progress of my challenge on Instagram via @touchedbyalfie if you’d like to follow along and learn more about Alfie and Oscar, and the extreme challenges and obstacles premature babies face.
Love from Oscar and Alfie's mum x
