My Mom's fight against ALS disease

For those who know my mother and who shared great moments with her, you know that she was always a person full of energy with lots of faith in God, a great mother, wife and friend willing to help anyone who might need help. In November 2011 my mother began to feel weakness in her legs and felt that she stumbled and was falling very easily without being able to control herself. At the same time, she felt some difficulty speaking. This difficulty increased gradually over time. After multiple visits and appointments with doctors and neurologists, she was finally diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). The disease was very popular last year by the famous Ice Bucket Challenge and is extremely aggressive. Her ALS, in just 2 years, has progressed to the point that it has affected her ability to breathe, eat, walk and talk. Right now she can only move her left hand, is unable to sit, walk or move by herself and needs attention 24 hours a day. The work of my father has been affected by the condition of my mother. My father had to quit his job, and his current work does not cover the costs that this disease has generated. Although we appreciate the help of the government, affection and support of close friends and our church, overcoming this disease has not been easy as a family emotionally or financially. My mother requires special care of alimentation and the cost is very expensive.  As a family, we would appreciate each of your donations. Para todos aquellos que conocen a mi madre quienes han compartido con ella saben que siempre fue una persona llena de energia, una excelente madre, esposa y amiga dispuesta a ayudar a cualquiera que la pudiera necesitar. En Noviembre 2011 mi mama empezo a sentir una debilidad en sus piernas y sentia que tropezaba y se caia constantemente con facilidad sin poderlo controlar, al mismo tiempo sentia dificultad al hablar; esta dificultad fue aumentando progresivamente. Despues de multiples visitas y citas con Doctores y neurologos fue finalmente diagnosticada con ELA (Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrofica). Esta enfermedad fue muy popular el año pasado por el conocido Bucket Ice Changelle y es extremadamente agresiva.  Su ELA en tan solo 2 anos ha progresado al punto que ha afectado su capacidad para respirar, comer, caminar y hablar. En este momento ella solo puede mover su mano izquierda, no puede sentarse, caminar ni moverse por si misma. Mi mama necesita de atencion 24 horas al dia por que desafortunamente a este punto no puede valerse por ella misma. El trabajo de mi padre tambien se vio afectado por la condicion de mi mama. Mi padre tuvo que renunciar a su trabajo, y con su trabajo actual no alcanza a cubrir los gastos que esta enfermedad ha generado, aunque contamos con las ayudas que el gobierno de este pais no has brindado, el carino y soporte de los amigos cercanos y nuestra iglesia, el sobrellevar esta enfermedad no ha sido facil como familia ni emocional ni economicamente. Mi madre require de alimentation y cuidados especiales que mi padre no puede costear en el momento.. Para todos aquellos nos conocen como familia, que conocen a mi mama, que algun compartieron con ella, que algun dia les brindo su ayuda, hospitalidad o simplemente su amistad les pido que nos ayuden y soporten en este momento. No importa la union hace la fuerza, cada una de sus donaciones sera utilizada para soportar a mi papa y a mi mama en este momento.
