Paying Tribute to Mama Hynes

Denise – “Mama Hynes” earned her angel wings on Saturday, February 6th after an aggressive form of cancer unexpectedly re-emerged after the holidays.

In 1998, while raising three young children, Denise successfully battled Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphomia, where she underwent a rigorous course of chemotherapy treatment. Her strength and overall love of life helped to put her in remission. 

This year, shortly after spending the holidays with her family, Mama Hynes was given the news that her cancer was back and this time would be untreatable. 

For those of us that were lucky enough to know her, know what a generous and kindhearted soul she was. Denise, or “Mama Hynes” as most would call her, welcomed all into her home with open arms, a big hug and an abundance of food. Chicken cutlets and pasta were always a speciality, along with cookies in the cookie jar. She loved to laugh and be among her family, whom she cherished more than anything else in the world, along with her beloved labrador retrievers. Mama Hynes often said how becoming a mom was all she wanted in life. She leaves behind a loving and devoted husband, 3 children and their spouses and 4 beautiful grandchildren (along with grand-doggies). Denise/Mom/Mama Hynes/“Nannerd” will be missed beyond measure.

To those of you who don't know me - I am Pattie Malone. Cindy and I have been best friends since we met in high school. I remember the very first time I went to the Hynes' house and I addressed Denise as "Mrs. Hynes" and she quickly said - "no, that's my mother-in-law, you can call me Mama Hynes." Fast forward, twenty-plus years later and she will forever be Mama Hynes.
