Princeton BC Flood Support - 2021
Donation protected
1 month after... update:
Recap >>> In support of our parents and other residents of Princeton BC, who've been deeply affected by flooding, when the town's dike was breached in 3 places by it's 2 rivers, which then roared down the streets, subjecting nearby homes to more then 10 ft of raging muddy water!
This major flood caused 245 Princeton homes to be evacuated. Residents had to run, with no time to save personal items from the muddy raging river that invaded their homes. And all were cut off from outside support due to all the washed out highways from the unprecedented amount of rainfall BC received that weekend.
>>> 1 month update >>> It has almost been a month now... and we are focussing our energies on supporting the extensive clean up & rebuilding process that is underway, to be able to make homes liveable again!
My parent's home, along with their near neighbours were some of the hardest hit, as they are only a block away from the breached dike.
Now that some of the initial shock of the mess & distraction has passed… my Mum, and the community of Princeton are coming to grips with the huge job & mass expenses coming up to rebuild & fix things up, even just to make homes liveable again.
If you feel moved to, any support you can offer, including spreading the word & sharing this fundraiser, is super helpful!
You can...
1. Invite friends to the Facebook fundraiser

PART OF FIRST MESSAGE AFTER FLOOD ON NOV 15th:
The river came over the dike so fast- in minutes. No one thought it would jump the banks. Rising over 14 feet in one day, breaching the 12 foot dikes! People were already in the streets sand bagging, as the rain was causing the storm drains to back up. There was an evacuation alert, but no one expected the tower of water to rush down the road, and everyone had to run with just what they had on. The water rose so high that cars and houses were flooded and it happened so quickly that people had to leave their houses without essentials like warm clothes and food, In -7 weather!
We want to help in any way we can, so we're creating this fundraiser to help people who are in need of urgent support like food, clothing, shelter etc.
ABOUT ME:
Hello, my name is Kristall, my parents have a home in Princeton B.C. and are very connected to the community there. They were here with me in Vancouver BC, thank goodness, when the flood hit. Their home experienced about 10 ft of water and everything inside has been tossed around and covered in silt from the river. The washing machine was literally upside down due to the force of the water, according to a neighbour.
My mum's husband is a plumber and is helping to organize the community here and up there. He's getting his people to donate time and materials to help with the rebuilding, especially getting new furnaces in right away, otherwise living there over the winter will not be possible for many.
Money raised here will go to fans heaters and generators that were used to dry out the homes and then to essential repairs like furnaces, boilers , electrical panels etc. To get homes dried out and liveable again as soon as possible.
