LET'S HELP OUR HEALTHCARE WORKERS IN NORTH CAROLINA

The medical professionals who are on the front lines combatting COVID-19 are facing severe shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) across the country.     The GOOD WORK Society is a 501(c)3 that is dedicated to helping solve this problem through a #GOODHEALTHTaskForce of amazing people and organizations who are volunteering their time, skills and resources to produce the GOODSHIELD1000 that is a PET plastic face shield that acts as a barrier between the hospital worker and the patient to capture aerosols from the air as a first line of defense.   The #GOODHealthTask Force is currently producing and distributing a supply of 3,500 GOODSHIELDS from community donation efforts, but there is tremendous unmet demand.  With a production team of 10-20 amazing volunteers, a #GOODHEALTHTaskForce can assemble 1,000 shields per day.   An average sized hospital with non-COVID overflow typically goes through 100-200 shields per day at a cost of ~$3 each.  

WHAT HEALTHCARE WORKERS ARE SAYING: 
“Once we put on the armor, I call it the armor, it is difficult to go to the bathroom or drink water because you risk infection or waste the limited PPE we have on hand.  So once we’re in, we resist for as long as we can, sometimes for up to 12 hours”.

"We forget to eat.  We forget to drink. We keep on working.”


INFORMATION ABOUT FRONT LINE MEDICAL WORKERS:
- 5-10% of severe cases and deaths are healthcare personnel (9% of COVID-related deaths in Italy are healthcare workers)
- Once COVID-19 hits, hospitals have seen 3x the influx of normal patients with 50% less personnel
-The high rate of infections among nurses and other healthcare staff is a serious concern because workers who are infected must stay away from work for at least 14 days, depleting the already exhausted workforce.

HELP US PROTECT OUR HEALERS! EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!  $15 will supply enough materials to produce 10 face shields!

This GOFundMe is a community campaign effort organized by the GOOD WORK Society to raise funds to produce and supply the GOODSHIELD1000 for hospital workers in North Carolina.  100% of the proceeds will go towards supplies, shipping and packaging to produce the GOODSHIELD1000 for donation to hospitals.   

We desperately need the support of our citizens right now to help get shields to the front line healthcare workers so they can stay safe, keep their families safe, and continue to provide care to those who need it.
