Amer Fakhoury Cancer treatment
Donation protected
After being held for 6 months by Hezbollah controlled government in Lebanon, Amer Fakhoury, a US citizen, was released on March 19,2020. His family is grateful for all the effort and hard work done by Senator Shaheen and the Trump administration in order for Amer to be reunited back with his family.
Amer was held illegally since September 12,2019. He was tortured and left in unsanitary conditions for 3 months. Due to the unsanitary conditions, he acquired Epstein barr virus (EBV) and H.Pylori infection while illegally detained and was left untreated for 3 months. They found him collapsed in his cell before finally getting him to a hospital. The infection was so extreme, that it led to EBV associated stage 4 B aggressive lymphoma.
His small business "Little Lebanon to Go" has been closed for the past 6 months due to his illegal detention. His business was the family’s only income. His medical insurance does not cover international treatment, and since cancer treatment is very expensive, the family is struggling to cover all the medical bills.
Amer has been released! He was released and arrived in the states on the 19th of March. The family is incredibly grateful to everyone that kept Amer in their thoughts and prayers and for all those that have donated. Unfortunately Amer’s fight in still not over. He did a PET scan last week and his cancer has become an advanced stage 4. The cancer did not respond to the chemotherapy in lebanon and instead became more aggressive. He will now be starting his chemotherapy in the states. The hospital bill in Lebanon is still not completely covered and the family is struggling to pay the 150k left of the expenses in Lebanon as well as the treatment here in the states. Please if you can help, it would mean the world to this family. Thank you all for everything ❤️
