In Memory of Ravil Gabbassov
Donation protected
This past weekend Timur and his dad Ravil travelled from New Westminster to Kelowna for a hockey tournament. Timur scored the goal that tied up the game and New Westminster ended up winning Gold at the tournament. The game ended late and Ravil decided to get a hotel for the night and drive during daylight hours on Monday. Tragedy struck as Timur and Ravil faced a car crash on the Coquihalla Highway. Ravil turned the vehicle in time for the impact of the semi-truck to hit the driver side. Miraculously, Timur emerged with minor injuries, but Ravil tragically lost his life. Timur describes his dad as a true hero for his act to save his life at the cost of his own. We extend our deepest condolences to the Gabbassov family. In this challenging time, our hockey community stands as one. Ravil leaves behind a wife, daughter and son. We don’t know what the future holds and would like to offer financial support as the family navigates the coming months.
This fundraiser is being organized by a group of fellow New Westminster hockey moms who have known the Gabbassov family for almost 10 years. The fundraiser is for Ravil's wife Mounira (Monica) Gabbassova and son Timur Gabbassov. All donations will be transferred to Monica and Timur to help with funeral costs, the wake and provide financial assistance after the loss of the primary wage earner. Details of the tragedy can be found here in the CityNews article.
