Solidarity with Refugees in Libya
Donation protected
Stand with us, REFUGEES IN LIBYA, as we fight for change! Help us raise 10,000 Euro to cover the livelihood of individuals and their families, who are fighting for our fundamental human rights in Libya for the next three months. Your donation ensures medical aid, food, and housing. The receiving persons are heavily exposed to institutional and arbitrary violence and have limited access to aid. Donate and support justice for refugees and migrants in Libya.
Crisis Unfolds: Humanitarian Catastrophe in Libya
Libya's transition from an attractive destination for employment to one of the main and deadliest transit countries to Europe resulted in dire humanitarian consequences (UN independent fact-finding mission report https://www.ohchr.org/en/hr-bodies/hrc/libya/index). Years of conflict and political divisions have left Libya dysfunctional, with rival factions rivalling for control.
The situation for refugees and migrants in Libya is dire. Most refugees are living in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, with little access to medical care, shelter, or food. The refugees held unlawfully in the detention center are in even worse conditions. They are subjected to physical and psychological abuse, with no hope of escape. Watch this video for more details
Libya doesn't recognize the Geneva Convention for Human Rights and therefore never ratified it. The Libyan Constitution foresees forced labour for refugees trying to step in or escape the Libyan borders. Libya is currently witnessing its deadliest bloodshed in years, with Libyan authorities and armed militia groups being implicated in many war crimes. This includes
- arbitrary killings
- unlawful detentions accompanied by abuse, torture, and sexual violence
- widespread exploitation and systematic torture of People on the Move
- absence of accountability and investigation mechanisms for the grave violations
Making an Impact: Transforming Lives Through Your Support
Help us achieve our goal of raising 10,000 Euros. Your donation provides crucial support for those deeply impacted by violence and limited access to aid. The funds are allocated to medical assistance, food, and rent for individuals detained for fighting for their rights and justice, who have been unjustly detained or those who have again found their freedom, as well as their families who have lost vital support systems.
Monthly we help a category of individuals and families who are affected by these issues. Here are some specific costs we aim to cover:
- €300 food, water & rent for 1 month for one family of five or
- €200 food, water & rent for 1 month for one single person
- €8 food and water for 1 day for 1 family or
- €5 food and water per day for 1 person
- €45 general medical visit for 1 person
- €400 for rapid response action in emergencies for victims of sexual violence, survivors of trafficking or arbitrary detentions, to have access to housing, medical and psychological support services

Who are REFUGEES IN LIBYA
We, REFUGEES IN LIBYA, is a peaceful self-initiated protest movement that claims its fundamental human rights to seek protection and safety. Our protest started in front of the UNHCR Libya in October 2021, after another arbitrary raid of our houses by the Libyan authorities and militias. Instead of receiving support, we were violently evicted earlier in 2022. As a result, 240 of our members have been unlawfully arrested in the horrible concentration camp Ainzara. This left us with nothing than ourselves. Watch this video about our protest in front of UNHCR
We are refugees and migrants in Libya. We are people who fled wars, persecution, climate change and poverty back in our countries of origin. We are survivors of sexual violence, torture, exploitation, and arbitrary detention. We were all pushed by circumstances beyond human endurance, and we now survive in Libya.
