Rexcons Re-entry Reference Guide

Donation protected

1 out of 3 Americans have been arrested. Your neighbor, your doctor, or even your boss could have a criminal record. They worked harder than most to get to where they are. If they had a support system, they were better off than most. That's where we step in.

Two ex-cons and an attorney have joined forces to create Rexcons, the support system for the Reformed, Responsible, and Respectable who wouldn't otherwise have one. Along with the subscribers of r/ExCons, the subreddit we moderate, we want to distribute a re-entry guide to all the other men and women, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, that are released from prison or jail.

"CONfidence: Life After Prison - The /r/ExCons Manual" is a constantly updated re-entry guide we have created out of the collective experiences we have shared. Life with a record is hard - it doesn't have to be impossible. The most up-to-date version is here.

With your generosity, we will be able to create monthly updated paper versions of our manual for every state, giving individuals who won't have immediate access to the internet immediate access to the resources they need to get back on their feet.

If we can prove to the Department of Corrections of a state we have been in touch (they will not allow themselves to be named until we actually get the project started) that we have the resources necessary to provide new versions of our manual every month, they have tentatively agreed to allow us to run a pilot program at one of their facilities.

As soon as we reach our goal, we will be able to do things, right away:

1. We will be able to pay the necessary fees and costs to obtain 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, allowing us to register with Charity Navigator and other sites that monitor non-profit transparency.

2. We will be able to launch a one-year long pilot program at one facility, proving to others who have expressed interest the viability of our idea.

If you can donate even $5 - just about the price of one cup of coffee - you will be able to change lives and society for the better. Not only will we be thankful, but so will the individuals who would otherwise be on their own after paying their debt to society.

Thank you very much for your help!
