Save Pee Wee From the Gallows

Donation protected

About 2 years ago me and my wife Carly rescued a westie-poo from the pound with a week left to live. He was very haggard looking and terrified and refused to look us in the face. But as soon as we walked outside and he heard us unlock our car he lit up! He started barking excitedly and literally jumping for joy, probably 3 feet in the air. He knew he was going home and he was going to do his favorite thing ever, ride in a car again!

Over the past couple years, Pee Wee has been a loyal companion but less than an angel. We've done our best but because he was 4 when we adopted him and we don't know his story it's been a tough adjustment for him. Most of the challenges we can accept as just part of his character but over the past year he's been growing increasingly aggressive. It's not a cute ankle biter kind of aggressive, Pee Wee tries to go for the throat with his signature hop. Recently he badly bit our new roommate and tore a hole in her shirt and we decided we were at a crossroads with him.

We've decided that in order to keep him, we need to get him trained by a professional since our efforts have stopped short of curbing his aggression problem. Everything we've read has explained that his violence comes from a place of protectiveness over us, his owners, and worsens exponentially as each encounter becomes more successful in driving off the "intruder." This is what we believe he's going through, which considering our plans to have children in the future creates an unacceptable situation. We would try and find him a new forever home but due to the severity of his aggression and the high cost of training of this nature we feel like that would surely be a death sentence, with him ending up in the pound un adoptable, never to ride in a car again. Obviously, this is heart breaking! We love him too much to put him through that again.

Thankfully we've found a trainer with a very high rate of success and a specialty in this specific problem, but the program is long and expensive. Half of the total of $3800 is covered but we're asking for the help of our friends and family to get the remaining $1900 to send Pee Wee to school and save him from the gallows!

Pee Wee would like to say thank you from the bottom of his fluffy heart! <3
