Shakespeare in Oxford

Hello friends and family! As some as you may or may not know, this upcoming summer, I am going to be participating in a 5-Week study abroad program housed at the University of Oxford in London! I will be spending these 5-weeks studying the works of Shakespeare, watching all the plays we study at places like the Globe Theater, and working one on one with an Oxford professor in my selected topic of Victorian gothic. This unique and amazing program gives me the opportunity to walk away with a total of 6 credits in just 5 weeks, impressive credentials to put on my resume, and endless memories and experiences that I know will completely transform who I am today. I mean, come on, an English major studying Shakespeare in the motherland? Does it even get better than that?

But beyond this program being an opportunity that will boost and excel my studies an educational experiences, this program also offers me the opportunity to enhance who I am as a person. I have never been out of the country before, let alone have I ever traveled in DIA by myself! And now I’m going to be traveling to Europe and living there for 5 weeks with people who I don’t know all too well--and that's kind of terrifying. But if there's one thing I am certain, it is this: Life begins outside of your comfort zone--and I am so excited for this life to begin. This program allows me to see parts of the world that were once unknown to me. It gives me chance to gravitate towards my endless desire to learn, meet new people and form connections with individuals from all over the world, and to simply wander and explore.
