December 14th 2016 my mother was rushed to an OC Hospital unresponsive. She had a stroke & hypertension leak on both sides of the brain. Her insurance was terminated while in the hospital in February, I've been appealing it since then. She was left blind and paralyzed on the left side of her body since the incident. Hospital discharged us due to insurance, they suggested a nursing facility but the closest facility to transport her would have been in Los Angeles (which is an hour away from me). If there is an emergency I can't get there within sufficient time. We declined and decided to do Home Health. The hospital told us everything would be covered, from supplies like diapers, Trach care kits, sterile water, etc and the following Monday everything was declined. She's still home and I'm doing everything in my power to care for her like a nurse and how the hospital taught me.
I'm paying for her medications and supplies all out of pocket. Hospital bills are in the thousands and medication is unaffordable but I do my absolute best to get the everyday medications. We have no Home Health, no therapies (physical, occupational & speech) I'm doing all this on my own but I'm not a therapist this isn't my profession, I'm doing my best so she recovers. Some people have donated diapers, chucks, wipes and it's helped so much. If anyone can help us we'd greatly appreciate it.
