Support Small Family Business - Utopia Smoke Shop
Beschermde donatie
We have launched this campaign on behalf of our family, the business owners of Utopia Smoke Shop in San Diego, CA.
Our parents have been small business owners for over 20 years - from a local 99 cents store to their current smoke shop that they have been running for the last 10 years. Maintaining a successful business has always been an uphill battle, but never have they had to completely shut down their business as they had to do on March 16th, when the City of San Diego mandated all non-essential businesses to close for the unforeseeable future due to COVID-19.
With the store shut down, they are not selling any products and are out of work. Prior to this, they saw a decrease in revenues starting as early as February of this year due to COVID-19. We are working with our parents to apply for city, state and federal grants and loans that will hopefully offset the financial burden he is currently facing. We, however, feel very unsure if/when they will be able to access such funding. Additionally, while we are working with them to set the store up online (check back soon to browse products online!), building an online presence and learning how to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of e-commerce is a lengthy and complicated process. While we are eager to support them in this way, our parents need immediate assistance to stay afloat and to ensure that they do not go completely out of business. So, like many struggling businesses right now, we are hoping to use this platform to raise funds for immediate expenses.
The funds raised from this campaign will allow them to pay for rent, utilities, insurance, payroll, credit card feeds and inventory - expenses that will continue to pile up despite his temporary closure. We are reaching out to all of you, our community, to ask for help during this difficult time. While we understand that most people are experiencing financial hardship, we appreciate the support during this time. Thank you so much.
