Support Jeff's Recovery After Heroic SELFLESS Dog rescue

On May 28 2024 Jeff, Keisha, & Kaleb stopped on 340 in Stuarts Draft because there was a 75 pound pit walking all over the road and laying in the road. (RESEARCH SHOWS HE WAS DROPPED ALONG WITH ANOTHER DOG- no owners to find) We stopped the first time along with a few other cars to try to get him off the road BEFORE he got hit or causes an accident with humans. He just kept running- as I got back in the car with our windows down we heard him start screaming and was hit by a car. (WE DID NOT HIT HIM)

We turned around to go help him or call Animal Control. We first thought he was dead and we were still gonna move him but then he raised his head up and stared at us crying! (WE HAVE PITS AT HOME- WE LOVE ALL LIFE) So all 3 of us got out to try to help him. I was out in front of traffic first waving people down- my son was behind me doing the same thing and then Jeff was on the road with the dog accessing a way to get him from being squashed to the pavement - we thought maybe he wasn’t hurt all that bad and could be saved!

As we are trying to get the dog to safety a big F250 truck headed right towards us without even slowing down! I jumped out of his way as I screamed to my son who also jumped over as I then screamed for Jeff- I never saw Jeff leave the road we just knew for sure he was dead. It’s the scariest thing I have ever actually seen happen before my eyes.

HOWEVER PRAISE BE TO JESUS! We are all here!

Jeff picked up a 75 pound sweet scared lost baby that bit him in the hand and very severe in his face!

Jeff actually got bit AS SOON as he scooped the dog up!

JEFF RAN ACROSS 2 LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC (INCHES AWAY) WITH A DOG ATTACHED TO HIS FACE- HE COULD NOT SEE WHAT SO EVER!

Once he got to the other side of the road he actually pulled the dog from his face!

He was taken by squad to AUGUSTA HEALTH - there they called in a helicopter on stand by and later decided to transport him by a trauma squad unit to UVA!

JEFF LAID FOR 2.5 HOURS AS THEY STITCHED HIS FACE UNDER LOCAL ANESTHETIC! A SHOT TO NUMB THEN ONE STITCH AT A TIME! This was the best way to repair the damage!

He then the next day spiked a fever and a very high heart rate as infection was setting in! He was taken to Augusta Health by me only to be giving meds to sustain him and sent to UVA AGAIN- this time for massive IV loads of antibiotics! The bite on his hand had cellulitis that was persistent!! They were trying to prevent sepsis- THANK GOD THE HAND IS OK NOW!

Jeff has many months before we will know what skin lived and has grown correct! There may be more surgeries- there may have to be reconstruction surgery down the road!

Jeff had just started a job at Hershey Chocolate a month ago. We do have health insurance but we do NOT have a paycheck as he wasn’t there long enough to receive one when missing time! (He will be out months)

We have been trying to do Amazon and DoorDash to help us as well!

JEFF IS THE MOST SELFLESS, CARING, LOVING MEN I HAVE EVER MET!

IT IS WITH GREAT PAINS THAT WE SET UP THIS GO FUND ME! We give to every single thing we can always. WE WILL ALWAYS PAY IF FORWARD!

THIS WASNT OUR DOG OR OUR PROBLEM- WE WERE ONLY TRYING TO PREVENT THE DOG FROM BEING HURT AND MAYBE FINDING HIS FAMILY AND WE DIDNT WANT SOMEONE (human) HURT THAT MAY HAVE HIT HIM EITHER!

THE DOG WAS TO INJURED TO SAVE ACCORDING TO ANIMAL CONTROL! Which was not what we wanted!
