The Steve Porto Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Hello everyone thank you for checking out our GoFundMe page!

This was set up to help cover the final expenses and memorial service of our very dear loved one Steve Porto.

Steven Thomas Porto, born April 8,1950, peacefully and powerfully departed God's good earth the night of November 18, 2023. He was surrounded by his large loving family, the heavenly sounds of angels, soft music, and singing. He is survived by nine of his ten children and seventeen grandchildren. His sixth child gave his life in service to our nation as a Marine. Steve is also survived by four siblings, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved each and everyone for their own unique talents and personalities. He was never judgmental and challenged them to love, work hard, and always think for themselves. Many know Steve as a free-spirited hippie, an entrepreneur, and big time lover. The second of five children born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, he left home in his early 20’s pursuing purpose and a good life. He loved the Holy Bible and often quoted Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness...”, this became his purpose. Grabbing hold of this purpose, Steve never let go, steadfast to the end. He was a visionary and had big dreams aligning with his purpose; dreams of God’s people working together in harmony, worshiping God, stewarding the earth, and healing the sick. Drawn to herbal healing medicine, Steve studied at The School Of Natural Healing in Springville, Utah under the direction of Dr. John R. Christopher in the master herbalist program. He loved to share his knowledge of herbal healing for the benefit of anyone who would listen, especially his children, whom he taught holistic health principles to from their youth. Steve had a brilliant mind and loved to learn. As a critical thinker, he was a good listener and had keen insight from which he gave solid advice. He loved his many books and was always reading. One of his common reading “chairs” was in the bathroom. There was always a stack of books next to the throne with single square pieces of toilet paper serving as his bookmarks. Any book that opens the mind and heart to deep contemplation, Steve has read it. He liked to debate ideas and pulled you in with pensive questions. There was no small talk with Steve; conversations were always deep and meaningful. This charming man was a cultivator. He cultivated worthy relationships and organic vegetables in his raised bed garden. Steve loved nature and his farm in the rural countryside. He was creative with his hands, skilled in woodworking and construction and educated himself in many other areas. He could fix just about anything! Steve was a DIY guy and taught his children his numerous skills. Even though his visions of what he felt he needed to accomplish were huge, it was the little moments that Steve found most precious. The simple pleasures of being with family, teaching a child something new, enjoying good company, healthy food, gardening, sharing stories, and traveling. His modest means did not deter his great generosity or his desire to dream big. Steve’s heart was focused on people and helping in any way he could. Need help? Steve shows up, with his bright smile every time. No one was a stranger to him and his door was always unlocked. Come in and receive Steve's embrace! Nothing else compares. Steve did not value possessions. He stored up treasures in Heaven through his good works and always standing up for the name of Jesus. He was so full of life, he did not stop until he was forced to, until Heavenly Father called him home. He had fulfilled his calling here on earth and has now been called higher. He is in Heaven. Just like all who read this Steve was not perfect, but he always strived to do GOOD!! Well done, Daddy-O! Well done, Pappa! Well done, Grandpa! Well done, Brother! Well done, Uncle! Well done, Cousin! Well done, Friend! “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord”
