Unaloto Taukeiaho Family Lahaina Fire Relief
Donation protected
As many of you know, on August 8th the town of Lahaina, Maui was destroyed by a fire fueled by intense hurricane level winds. I had the privilege of first getting to know the Taukeiaho family while serving voluntarily in Hawaii for 2 years. Unaloto and Fangafitu are the parents of 5 children, 2 older sons and 3 younger daughters. Both sons are currently serving voluntary foreign missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which are paid for by the family. Fangafitu and her daughters were at home in Lahaina when the fire started, and managed to evacuate just in time, leaving everything behind except the car they used to escape. Their house and everything in it, as well as 2 cars and a storage container used to store tools and other items were destroyed. Unaloto was involved in a side business making and selling wood carvings on Front Street, which completely burned. Their entire neighborhood was destroyed. Due to this tragic situation, they are temporarily staying with friends. They are very grateful to be alive and safe, but now face the heavy reality of having to rebuild everything. This family is incredibly giving and they hope to share some of these funds with neighbors in need. Any donation large or small would be greatly appreciated by the Taukeiaho family.
