Bialystok Cemetery Restoration 2024

We have launched our GoFundMe fundraiser for our August 2024 restoration project. This year in addition to continuing our work at Bagnowka Cemetery where since 2016 we have found and restored over 2000 headstones, we will be creating a memorial in the Central Park in downtown Bialystok. Over the past two summers we recovered over 140 tombstones that belonged in the former Rabbinic Cemetery. This cemetery was leveled by the communists who took over this area of Poland post WWII. Without regard they hauled many headstones to the outskirts of town and buried them just outside the Bagnowka Cemetery fencing. In addition they leveled more burying them under many feet of post war rubble to create the Central Park. We have been granted permission to construct a memorial adjacent to the former cemetery within the park.
