A Homeless Homeowner

I have been homeless for about 5 or 6 years now. I saved a few thousand dollars and bought a house.

I bought a Condemned property with the funds.
until the necessary repairs have been made I am not allowed to enter the property before 7am or after 7pm unless for reasons approved by the "Neighborhood Assistance" Inspector.

In the time I have owned this Property I have managed to clean the excessive amounts of trash and debree from the inside and outside of the property, removed the old carpeting, primered the walls ready for paint, then painted them white. I have restored the plumbing and have all utilities turned on.  I have removed all the old carpets sanded the floors and made some major drywall repairs and removed two small trees near the house.

I have restored the water heater and the furnace to working condition, the thermostat and the ductwork. updated some Lightfixtures.

I still need to address  lead paint citations from SCHD, lay carpet and repair a few more holes in walls and paint them. I also have two broken windows to replace.
I need to clean and repair my gutters and replace doors to 4 rooms. repair the concrete steps on my porch area and repair a small panel of siding on the second floor .

I am hopefull to raise enough funds to restore the house to habitability and The City of Akron is threatening to Demolish my Home if I cannot comply with the orders in time.

I am a full time struggling college student.

I manage my fundraiser alone, work, and be a successful college student (I major in music production and studio recording at Stark State)all at the same time while raimaining hopefull in being able to save/restore my Property.



I have Come a long way from homeless to homeowner. However I am still without a home. I am in a great need to restore my property to a condition that the Housing Authorities deem Habitable before they issue a demolition order. I am making my best efforts at getting involved with local Community officials and residents on gathering a suport structure to help me complete the compliance orders.

I am open to ideas to organize a fundraiser through setting up a series of local Charity Events. I am in need of sponsors activists and Donors. This may help me gain the resources I need to finally rest my head somewhere safe and secure.

I am a father of two young children (one of which has special needs due to autism. It is my dream that when it is my time I can make up for my mistakes and times of absence by leaving them this home in my living will so that they will never ever be forced to go through what I had.
