I wasn't originally planning to do this, but after my little experiment eating for $1 a day for a week, I was made to consider what life might look like with constant restrictions on what I could eat.

Honestly, that sucks. Nobody should have to live like that if they don't want to. I feel lucky to have always had enough to eat as a kid and I would like to live in a world where that's the case for every child.

As you probably know, Zimbabwe is in the throes of a hunger crisis, driven by climate change and the almost total  collapse of their economy. This beautiful country has been through so much and now faces a desperate humanitarian crisis. Zimbabwe has the highest inflation rate in the world and, on top of that, is in the midst of a devastating drought. There are fuel shortages, widespread poverty, a lack of clean drinking water, power outages, and now, coronavirus on top of it.  Figures vary, but is is estimated that 90% of the economically active population are out of work. Consider that for a moment!  

But the people of Zimbabwe are tough, tenacious and determined and they will overcome, and set their country back on course. But right now, they need our help. If the coronavirus has taught us anything, it is that we are all in this together.

A crisis in any part of the world, is a crisis for all the world.
In this first campaign I am launching in support of our brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe, I am hoping to raise funds to help alleviate this desperate situation, in a small but impactful way.  Please make whatever contribution you can and forward this link to GoFundMe to your friends and family.

End World Hunger 2017 is driven by the vision of a world free from hunger. In a world where we are all connected, there is no excuse why 15,000 kids a day should die simply because they do not have enough food to eat.

Our mission is to end hunger in 2017 by fundraising 30 billion dollars to Action Against Hunger (the number one charity organization currently fighting this crisis) using the power of social media. The United Nations has publicly stated that it would cost an approximate 30 billion dollars per year to end this food crisis across the world.

There are numerous amounts of ways that this could be achieved, however, we have come up with a way where every person on the Facebook platform could contribute a small amount towards reaching this goal. There are currently 1.86 billion active Facebook users. If each user donated $16.14 we would be able to reach our goal of ending world hunger in 2017. We are connected like never before, we have a voice, we have a chance, we can be the generation to End World Hunger.

The End World Hunger 2017 team’s very own Founder Corey Pinto will raise awareness by running 30 miles and biking 40 miles per day for the next 43 days beginning July 1st. Corey will travel 70 miles per day from NY all the way to Los Angeles, California! A total of 3000 miles! Corey hopes runners and cyclists from all across the nation will join him on his route.

Every day when I pray over my meal, I thank God for the blessing of food. I also pray that all of God’s people may have a meal that day. Those prayers have stayed with me and reminded me that gratitude must move me to action. I want to turn thankfulness into help so that someone else can have at least a bowl of beans and hope for tomorrow.
