Want to join me in making a difference? Hi my name is Defne, I want to make a difference in the world, so I'm helping bridge to turkiye raise money for people that need the help especially for the earthquake that happened recently. The reason I am helping this charity is because people have forgotten about this earthquake and don't prioritize it anymore. Throughout the news it is shown that officially 53,537 deaths have happened but unoffically a lot more people have passed. And the horrible fact is that two earthquakes happened with a two hour interval. The cities that it had affected are Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Malatya, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Elazığ and Adana. If the first earthquake didnt topple enough buildings and harm enough people in these cities, the second earthquake caused double that. The reason why my goal is to bring more attention to this cause, is because the people in Turkiye still need all the help that they can get. To accomplish this goal i'm raising money to benefit Bridge to Turkiye, and any donation will help make an impact.

More information about Bridge to Turkiye: Bridge to Türkiye Fund (BTF) is devoted to mobilizing donor communities and generating philanthropic resources benefiting the socio-economically disadvantaged segments, with emphasis in children’s education and health care. BTF works to contribute to the development of under-served children, where they too can realize their full potential.

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit several cities in Turkey. There are currently 36,000 dead and thousands of buildings have now been reduced to rubble. There are approximately 100,000 people trapped under debris. As Boston University Turkish Student Association, we set a goal to raise $50,000 to aid the ongoing search and rescue efforts taking place in Turkey. The funds collected will be directly transferred to the Bridge to Turkiye Fund which is collectively raising $5,000,000 for the ongoing search and rescue efforts.

It is time for action and I am calling out to all my network to help me here. I'm raising money to benefit Bridge to Turkiye (a US registered tax-deductible charity) and by extension, their approved local civilian non-profit partner "Ahbap Platform" in Turkey to support the earthquake victims in Turkey. Any donation will help make an impact so nothing is too few or too little but we have set the bar high for this community.

To support the cause, I will be riding from Miami to Key West on Feb 17th - 18th with a select group of friends form the South Florida maritime community. This is a 168 mile / 270km ride, spread to 1.5 days.

Hi, my name is Defne Mergen and I am fundraising for the earthquake in Turkey that happened on Feb 6th, 2023. The impact is devastating, many have lost homes, jobs, and family. Relief efforts have begun, but they will have to continue for quite some time.
