“Hello! My name is Rick Hadwick and I’m about to do something really silly, but for a great cause! I’ll be raising money for Children's mental health charities and services based in North Texas.

During this year’s soccer season (24/25) I will be wearing a weighted vest during every practice and game that my teams participate in. That’s a lot of hours and a lot of weight! However, those hours are incomparable to the day-to-day struggle many children and their families face when navigating mental health.

I’m passionate about this because not only due to my own challenges, but witnessed family, friends, teammates and players endure many of the difficulties that come with mental illness. Not to mention the challenges we all face, when life is hard, and the impact that can have on wellbeing and mental health.

This can truly feel like a weight on our shoulders. That is why i chose this challenge. I want kids out there having a tough time to know that we are with them, and there is support out there. Please help me in raising awareness and give what you can.

I chose to raise money for the Grant Halliburton foundation (https://www.granthalliburton.org) and the child mind institute due to the amazing and transparent work they do for young people, and in raising awareness in mental health. As noted on their website:

There is no work that is more important than the mental health and brain development of our children. My personal history makes this fundraiser meaningful to me. My name is Carter Blatt, at the age of 13 years old, I suffered my first major concussion. This pivotal moment, not only changed my perspective on life but also knocked me down into a world of uncertainty and challenges. Although this had not been my first concussion, this horrific event created extreme barriers, that seemed impossible to overcome. Simple daily tasks became monumental hurdles. Throughout my year-long recovery, I learned an immense amount about myself and the mental strength it takes to overcome such obstacles. My journey to recovery, not only included mental health struggles from feeling socially isolated from my peers but also eroded my confidence in the classroom. If it were not for the care I was provided, I could not have overcome the challenges I faced. This organization aims to provide the care explained for children who face challenges similar to mine.

After several years of wanting to turn my pain into purpose, I finally started the Serve Wellness Foundation, actively partnering with the nationally renowned Child Mind Institute (CMI). CMI is the leading independent nonprofit organization in children’s mental health and learning disabilities. They operate under three Mission Areas which work together for the greatest impact- Care, Education, and Science. CMI is dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disabilities by assisting them with tools to help them thrive. Help me on my mission to create a community of acceptance and development.

Hi, our names are Prit and Aadit and we are fundrasing for our community service project. We want to help childrens mental health, especially in a time where it's even more common for young adolecents. We hate to hear it and have our own personal experiences our close peers. Dear Friends & Family!

On Sunday, February 25th I will be participating in the Swammie Shuffle 200 - This event is a 222-mile foot race that goes back-and-forth from Sandbridge, Virginia Beach to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina!

The length of this race is far beyond any distance I’ve ever attempted in the past, and yet I feel optimistic, excited and grateful to go on this journey. But, most importantly, I’d love to also raise awareness and funds for an incredible non-profit called CHILD MIND INSTITUTE (CMI).

CMI is the leading independent nonprofit in children's mental health, and are dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. They are delivering educational resources to millions of families each year, training educators in underserved communities, and developing tomorrow’s breakthrough treatments.

This cause is important to me because I’ve battled depression, and can empathize with those who struggle to find the courage and resources needed to improve their own life. Five years ago, I unwittingly signed up, (under)trained, and suffered through a marathon – But to my surprise after months of training, I experienced the mundane exercise of 'running' morph into a new effective form of mindfulness, therapy and empowerment I could rely on. The progress and passion I found in this silly little hobby, led to changes in my routines and perceptions, which ultimately helped me improve other areas in my life.

I write these words not as a victim, nor as a role model, but as a friend hoping to remind you of the importance of caring for yourself and your kin – therapies, resources, hobbies, unique experiences and friends are here to help you navigate the journey of life which is a whole lot longer than 222 miles - So dream big, act bold, stay committed, lean on your loved ones, and never ever let the world trick you into believing you don’t belong.

The Golden Starlight Project is not just a non-profit organization. It is a space for people to share their light with others to help build confidence in teens. Whether attending public or private school, or are home-schooled, teens need to learn how to prioritize their mental health. Though everyone has different struggles, together, we can find a collective solution. Raising awareness is more important than ever because of the intense social media usage. For teenage girls specifically, the beauty standards are impossible, expectations are set for perfection, and there seems to be no room for mistakes. That kind of culture and mindset is extremely toxic, as one might agree. From a young age, many kids are not shown the proper tools to fight the perfectionist culture portrayed in the modern digital age, and as a result, are mentally damaged. This could mean early-set depression, increased adolescent anxiety, environmentally-induced trauma, and more.

Our goal is to help locally fight the increasing number of kids who are not able to access the professional help that they need. We will become a light for those who need help to shine and hope that can change many lives in the process.
