HELP The Greater 33rd 4TH FOURTH OF JULY!

In lieu of being together for the fourth the last two years, let us come together to fund the building of a tiny house to support housing for someone without. PLEASE GIVE what you can. Funds will go to Low Income Housing Institute. It costs $4,500 to build a tiny house.

UPDATE: Thank you all for helping us hit our initial fundraising goal of $4500 dollars! With your support we are set to receive materials on August 2, and will begin building shortly thereafter. Additional donations are still welcome! The true cost of raw materials exceeds $6000, so any donations above our goal will cover the cost of materials that would have otherwise been paid for by LIHI. By covering the full cost of the house, we can help LIHI fund more tiny houses in the future.

My name is Sam Kelleran, and I am a high school student in Seattle planning to build a tiny house to place in a LIHI tiny house village. Living on the streets, it can be virtually impossible for someone to find the stability and safety needed to get back on their feet. With just a small, 8x12 unit with a bed and a lockable door, someone has a place to store their belongings, keep themselves and their kids safe, and stay warm and dry during the night. Tiny house villages also provide other amenities like laundry washing, showers, and other supportive services, all of which are crucial for people transitioning to a job and a permanent housing solution. I believe that everyone deserves a path towards improving their lives.

With help from my friend, Vincent Zhou, we are looking to raise $4500 to fund raw materials for one tiny house through our "Raise a Roof" campaign. We are committed to building and delivering the house to LIHI, who will make it a part of one of their tiny house villages in Seattle. We hope to raise the first $2500 by July 20th, so we can order materials and begin building in August.

Our group Houses For Homeless is partnering with the Low Income Housing Institute to build tiny houses for the tiny house villages that LIHI is developing and operating. 

Tiny houses offer tremendous benefits over tents – they are safe, weatherproof, and lockable – and the communities that we help build allow residents to reclaim their dignity and get on a path to housing in a supportive village environment.

Each tiny house has electricity, overhead light, and a heater.  Each tiny house village has kitchen and restroom facilities, onsite showers and laundry, a counseling office, and a welcome/security hut where donations of food, clothing, and hygiene items can be dropped off. 

With COVID raging, shelters are becoming more and more unsafe and it’s never been more important for people to have their own safe space. How are people supposed to lockdown in their own homes if they don’t have one?

We can build each tiny house for approximately $3,000. Our goal is to build 30 houses or the the equivalent of one average size village per year (although the houses may end up spread among multiple villages).

Donations are tax deductible and will go strait to the Low Income Housing Institute who will supply us with the materials to build.
