For the past 10 years, MYO has grown and is now offering the best bargain in quality Youth Theatre in the McKinney area. Students in our program pay NO tuition, have NO costume purchases, require NO minimum ticket sales or parent volunteer time. MYO believes that theatre should be accessible no matter your income level or situation. Our Professional staff is made up of Volunteer educators with over 75 years experience between them. MYO has produced over 60 mainstage plays and musicals with students ages 5-18. But theatre is expensive, so once a year we have a straight donation fundraiser to help us pay for our ambitious season. Season Tickets and Sponsorship will be out in August and is another way to donate. Members past and present are welcome to donate to help us reach our goal this season. Each season MYO holds a month long fundraiser to assist in getting the new season started. We don't spend the whole year raising funds and we depend on this one to give us a solid start to a new year. These past few months have been difficult for all of us. We were hit by a ticket company holding part of our gate receipts, then our final two shows had to be cancelled. We have persevered, going online for 4 virtual shows and making a little money through donations to see those. We have also offered about 200 free class sessions and workshops for our students and had attendance over 1,000. We have to plan to go ahead for the season and one way or another, we will adapt to the new performing environment. Covid has also hit our summer camp enrollment heavily. This was a large chunk of budget we hope to make up here, by going past our goal. We want to continue providing the best in Community Youth Theatre to McKinney and North Collin County, but we can't do it with your help and support. Please give what you can and pass this on to those who are interested in developing fine young people and performers.

Our all volunteer staff is dedicated to an inclusive, supportive performing atmosphere for all students whether they want to be pros or just love the stage. Theatre changes lives and our organization has changed more than its share.

MYO is getting ready to start its 9th season serving the students of North Collin County. 
McKinney Youth  onSTAGE, or MYO is a 501c3 Youth Theatre organization. We offer low cost, high quality performing opportunities to students grades 1-12 in the area. Formerly known as Melissa Youth ONSTAGE, we have changed our name to better reflect the center of our operations in downtown McKinney. Students at MYO receive opportunities and challenges like none other in the area. MYO offers a full season of 7 musicals and plays along with tours, variety shows and camps. Our staff members are all volunteers, doing what we love for the kids. Every staff member has a background in public education and child development which assists us in one of our goals of helping to create not only good performers, but decent, well educated people as well.
MYO is unique in that we follow a Community theatre/repertory style in its organization. Members do several shows together during the season and learn to trust and grow together as a cohesive organization. Rehearsals generally run 3 times a week for 6-8 weeks just like an adult community theatre.
Our season has been chosen, but not all shows can be revealed until royalties are paid. We will open the season with the popular MATILDA. The schedule also includes Urinetown and Frozen, jr. We will also initiate a student directed one act festival this season along with a performing ensemble group.
MYO does NOT charge tuition of any kind. We do not require students to sell a minimum of tickets to participate, we do not require students to buy their own costumes. We believe that performing opportunities should be for every child with the motivation to so, not just those that can afford it. 
For this reason we look to outside assistance to help with the costs. MYO does a fundraiser, supports a season ticket Sponsorship program, receives gate money, and applies for grants to keep the program going. Theatre is an expensive undertaking and quality theatre costs even more. We believe in giving our students the best possible facilities and theatrical experiences we can afford. We need assistance with Royalties for shows, facility rentals, and miscellaneous things required to be successful. Our goal is $2,000, but this amount would only scratch the surface of one production.  We hope you will consider a gift today to keep out youth arts program vibrant and alive.

Last season MYO performed 7 shows and had nearly 150 individual students participate in grades K-12. MYO is a volunteer run organization and does not charge tuition, require students to buy costumes, or set a minimum amount for students to participate.  Our 8th season  will include Newesies, Little Shop of Horrors, Children of Eden and Alice in Wonderland among other shows.  Theatre can be expensive and we believe in raising money from interested parties rather than leaving someone out because of an inability to pay.
