Most of you know we have had one heck of a 6 months here. We have never had so many back to back major medical emergencies. Typically in a year we encounter 1, possibly 2, major incidents. This year was different and it couldn’t come at a worse time. Donations are down and most rescues are struggling like us. There is typically an inverse relationship with inflation and donations. We understand everyone is feeling it. Our holiday wish is to end the year caught up on all our outstanding vets bills. This helps the vets, so they can close the books on the year and helps us breathe. Our major vet emergencies- Pesto’s colitis/ laminitis/ Lyme, Franklin’s abscess/ Cornell visit, Fergal’s listeria infection/Cornell visit, vet visits and treatments for all the goats and diagnostic testing, Liam’s pneumonia and euthanasia/necropsy and testing, Sasha’s bloat, Poppy’s EPM/ neuro exams and diagnostic labs, Toy’s discoid Lupus treatment, Timmy’s laminitis ( countless rounds of radiographs)and euthanasia and now Boo’s pneumonia. Boo’s weekend emergency call on Saturday alone was more that $1000. It has been rough. This is on top of all the regular vet visits and routine meds. We’d love to be able to start 2024 with a clean slate. Can you help? We have run various fundraisers but there are still odds and ends that have added up in each case.

For Valentine’s Day we are fundraising to bring home these two big guys. Lionel & Richie have spent their lives working on Amish farms. Their bodies wear the scars of a life in harnesses. They deserve a quiet retirement filled with love and care. The total is what it cost to purchase both, ship them to quarantine, a month of quarantine board and the expenses there. They will have their feet trimmed, Coggins tests done. They deserve this. Please help. Estimated arrival to our sanctuary will be end of February.
