My name is Fatima, and I am a Sudanese citizen living in the United States. Today, I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart, seeking your compassion and support for my family, and the entire community in Abu Hamad, Sudan, which has been devastated by catastrophic floods.
As many of you know, Sudan is already enduring a terrible war that has torn apart the lives of countless innocent people. The conflict has displaced families, destroyed infrastructure, and created an overwhelming humanitarian crisis. Just when it seemed that the suffering could not get worse, the rains came.
The heavy flooding has hit Abu Hamad — a town already struggling with the impact of conflict — particularly hard. Homes have been washed away, farmland destroyed, and roads rendered impassable. The people of Abu Hamad are facing this disaster with little support. Basic resources like food, clean water, and medical care are in short supply, and the already overwhelmed healthcare system is now unable to cope with the rising number of injuries and illnesses caused by the floodwaters.
This is a call for action.
Through the pain and uncertainty, I have found a glimmer of hope. I’m working with the Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA), an organization with a long history of humanitarian work in Sudan. SAMA has partnered with trusted local organizations that are already on the ground in Abu Hamad, providing life-saving relief to those affected by the floods. They are distributing food, clean water, medical supplies, and shelter. And they are in urgent need of funds to continue their critical work.

I have started this GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds that will go directly to those in need in Abu Hamad. I want to assure you that 100% of the donations will go to the Sudanese American Medical Association and their trusted partners in Sudan. The organization is on the ground, already mobilized, and ready to provide immediate relief.
