Every Thanksgiving, I volunteer at The Bowery Mission. This year, we have high goals to feed the growing number of people and families in need even beyond Thanksgiving.

The Bowery Mission is a place of welcome, care, and healing in New York City. The Bowery Mission has served neighbors experiencing homelessness and hunger since the 1870s, when its neighborhood came to define the term “skid row.”

Shakespeare House is pleased to continue it's partnership with the Bowery Mission as this year’s House Charity.

The Bowery Mission is called to minister in the New York metro area to men, women, and children caught in the cycles of poverty, hopelessness and dependencies of many kinds, and to see their lives transformed to hope.

Pan Arcadia is closing out the year by giving back to the city with Rock the Pantry 2024 — a food drive and livestream benefit concert set for Saturday, December 14.

The event will be livestreamed from the band’s residence, The Shack, with performances by over 20 incredible local artists, including Jackson Hamm (Telescreens), Connor Abeles (Cab Ellis), Bec Lauder, Anna Shoemaker and more, in a full day of music, community and giving back.

Pan Arcadia, known for their electrifying performances and commitment to the local music scene, by merging efforts to support their beloved community and unite the vibrant music scene, the band is wrapping up 2024 with a can’t-miss event for all local music heads, neighbors and fans. My name is David. I am currently a high schooler doing a civic seal project tackling the most common problems in Queens and NYC. We've all been on the subways at some point in or lives, with all of us seeing at least a few homeless people sitting by. Many of us turn a blind eye, but no one should have to live this way. Homelessness is not a crime, yet they're stepped on by society and mistreated. No one stops to actually consider that these people need our help. The fact that we don't understand that, and show no compassion, is what leads to negative outcomes for those experiencing homelessness. Many are on the edge of starvation and suffering from mental health issues. Everything is connected, and we must do something about it.

Which is why I have decided to start a GoFundMe for The Bowery Mission, as they are one of the largest nonprofits for homelessness in NYC. If anyone can make a difference, it's them. By raising money to support the homeless, you're helping the cause to find shelter and the help homeless people need in NYC.

This is not just an issue of homelessness, but also an issue of public health and safety, for those who are homeless and those who share the same public spaces. We're all human, and if we see others in their darkest moments, we should do our very best to help. It is the society, and the conditions that they live in that forge them into what they are. All humans are born equal, so it’s important to show some compassion. Please donate to The Bowery Mission today, and make a difference that will change the lives of many.

Hi friends and family! Ireland here. This year I won’t be spending thanksgiving with loved ones but as a way to connect with you all and my community, I will be running the nyc turkey trot and raising money for The Bowery Mission. The mission has been serving the homeless and hungry in Manhattan since 1872, focusing on care that is compassionate and transformational.

A big part of the culture I grew up in has revolved around hospitality, even more so during the holiday season (Nod to our Rudolph family fearless leaders Hoot, Anne, & Judy in the restaurant industry and Grandpa Dee & Grandma Betty Adgate at Thunder Mountain). For me, warmth, food, and shelter are so closely tied with what I know as family. We are privileged not only to have those things, but to be able to use them as the building blocks of our relationships and cultures. I will miss you all this year but please join me in spirit on my turkey trot run and let’s share what we are blessed to have!

As a personal update, I feel so much gratitude right now. Many of you know that I suffered some prolonged health issues this year causing me to leave work. I am incredibly proud to share that I’m doing SO much better thanks to the support of so many of you.
