Hello all,
We raised USD 26K out of a target of USD 10K and we are grateful!
This campaign is now closed
Hello all,
We are raising money for the World Food Programme.
It all started with the #WanakasetChallenge. We wanted to encourage people to stay home when possible and while in COVID19 confinement grow the largest and most diverse collection of fruit trees! And while at it, share on social media the largest number of good reasons to plant trees.
The rule was simple: for each new reason shared, 200$ dollar would be donated to vulnerable farmers living in the vicinity of Wanakaset projects. Thanks to people passion and commitment, we managed to collect more funds than we expected and made it 45 reasons as of 25th of April 2020.
https://wanakaset.org/france/en/en-vrac-30-bonnes-raisons-de-planter-un-arbre-2/In the meantime, we realised that supply chain disruptions worldwide would sooner or later affect food related logistics. Farmers could not access their lands, trucks could not lift their products, seeds did not make it on time, etc..
And then last week the UN’s WFP chief warning that the Pandemic will cause a “Famine of Biblical Proportion”.
As the Pandemic pushes more people into poverty, and governments respond to the crisis the best they can to procure staple food, as many as 265 million people across 30 countries could now face starvation. That is why we started this campaign and that is why we need everyone’s help to support the most vulnerable when they need it most.
No amount is too small:
$15 could give a 1 month supply of food to a child
$45 could give a child a lifeline: 3 months’ worth of food assistance
$75 can provide a family with one WFP food box, containing food for a family for an entire month
Restoring our primary ecosystem services must happen and will happen by planting seeds and trees all throughout this year. and next and the one after.
But feeding starving people cannot wait.
Thank you for your support. All funds are transferred directly to UN's World Food Programme USA.
